After a large exodus at FC Volendam, club hero Johan Steur returns as a scout

Where many left, FC Volendam has brought back a club hero. Johan Steur becomes a scout at The New Orange. He has also held that position in the past.

“I was approached to take up scouting and have decided to follow my orange heart,” says Steur on the FC Volendam website. “I am going to commit myself to FC Volendam with fresh courage and hope to be able to make my contribution and scout players with potential for FC Volendam.”

As a footballer, Steur played no fewer than 448 matches for FC Volendam. Only Henny Schilder has played more games than he has in the first team. After his playing career, Steur was a youth coach, then assistant coach between 1999 and 2005. He served in that role again between 2007 and 2019. Steur was temporarily put forward as interim trainer four times.
