Plopsaland in De Panne and the other Plopsa parks will adjust their rules for visitors with disabilities from next year. The adjustment comes after a complaint in the Netherlands from Stichting Uit met Autisme against Plopsa Indoor Coevorden. There, adults with autism were required to bring a supervisor if they wanted to use the low-stimulus queues.
“We found that very strange,” says Romano Sandee of the Out with Autism Foundation. “Many people with autism live perfectly independently. They have a job, a driver’s license and are allowed to vote. However, this would suddenly no longer be allowed in the amusement park, and that does not make sense.”
