Karin has been active as a craft teacher of the Gabberweek for ten years. After the craft afternoon, she was surprised on Wednesday by chairman Marije Jonker, who had taken a beautiful bunch of flowers for her. “Thank you very much for the beautiful moments”, it sounded in primary school ‘t Spuienschip in Opmeer.
‘Proud of fellow volunteers’
The hymn caused emotions at Karin. “You build something with the co -volunteers. And when I see myself that my son and mother are both volunteers here, then I am quite proud of that.”
Karin is one of the many people that allows the Gabberweek to exist. Although the tenth edition is her last. “It is the most debilitating week of the year, but it is worth it. You look forward to it every year and stopping hurts. But I work full -time and have to take 5 days off for this. I also want to continue my other volunteer tasks , so then you have to make choices. “
Last week as a craft teacher
Jonker praises the regular craft teacher during her last week. “Karin is by cleaning and not from dicks. She takes everything off your hands. We are going to miss her fun and beautiful personality.”
Karin de Gabberweek cannot let go of the Gabberweek yet. She has decided to help two days next year. “You look forward to it every year. When I see all those vans driving through the villages that the children pick up, I just think:” Yes, we’re going there again. ”
