FC Valencia has found a replacement for right-back Thierry Correia (25), who injured his cruciate ligament. After efforts to recruit Iván Fresneda (20, Sporting) were unsuccessful, the bottom of the LaLiga table presented Max Aarons on Monday. The 25-year-old is on loan from AFC Bournemouth until the end of the season. Valencia also secured a purchase option, which is reportedly worth 9 million euros.
Aarons, who was courted by numerous clubs, moved from Norwich City to Bournemouth in the summer of 2023 for 8.1 million euros. After initially being seeded, he forfeited his place due to two long-term hamstring injuries. In the current season, Aarons has played even less often under coach Andoni Iraola; in four appearances, he has only been on the pitch for 260 minutes. With a market value of 16 million euros, Aarons, who will be the first English professional to wear the Valencia dress, will still be the fourth most valuable player in the Valencia squad in the future.
