Advertisers also oppose ban on gambling advertising | Inland

Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) is working on a ban on advertising gambling. After the sports sector and the TV channels, the Association of Billboard Operators (AEA), represented by JCDecaux, Clear Channel and Belgian Posters, is now also arguing against the ban.

The sector association agrees with the media companies’ proposals to self-regulate, rather than undergo a total ban. Among other things, they propose to stop advertising gambling in areas around schools.

The advertising companies are also willing to reinvest 20 percent of gambling advertising revenues in awareness campaigns to point out the dangers of gambling. Under every gambling advertising poster, the industry would like to place an informative message about those dangers.
