Adidas and Gucci present new collaboration

Italian luxury fashion house Gucci and German sporting goods manufacturer Adidas have announced a new collaboration.

“[Wir] confirm that we are joining forces for a new collaboration – Adidas x Gucci – that combines the heritage and creative codes of both brands,” reads a brief statement on Adidas’ website.

There, the companies refer to the Adidas Confirmed App and the @adidasOriginals and @Gucci social media platforms for more information.

While the website announcement featured only the new combined logo of the collaboration, Gucci has already previewed a couple of the resulting products in three photos on its Instagram account.

Shown is a cream white blazer with the new logo in blue on the breast pocket, a black glove with three white stripes and the logo in white, as well as green dress pants with three white stripes down the side and a pair of gray shoes with white stripes that each have the Gucci and Adidas logos on the heel. In the accompanying text, Gucci promises “characteristic silhouettes” and “something distinctly new”.

Visitors to Milan Fashion Week were able to experience a few looks of the 84 designs created by Creative Director Alessandro Michele live during Gucci’s runway show, including a bright green and blue men’s suit paired with light gray and tan shoes, respectively. Suits remained the focus for Gucci’s streetwear makeovers, which range from casual tracksuits to tuxedos.

A collaboration of this kind is nothing new for Adidas, as the sporting goods manufacturer had only recently made a name for itself through partnerships with Stella McCartney, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto and Prada.
