Adele in Munich: First pictures of the stage design of the pop-up stadium

In a press release sent out on Tuesday (February 6, 2024), Adele’s concert organizers sent out two first images showing the pop-up stadium in which the British singer will perform ten concerts in Munich in August this year. The pictures were sent at the same time as the announcement of the two additional concerts.

Accordingly, there is a very long walkway on which Adele can walk almost to the middle of the arena, with a small round stage at the end. The main stage can also be reached in an arch shape via two walkways. The name “Adele” adorns the exterior walls of the building in illuminated letters. From above, the pop-up stadium looks like a clock with one hand instead of two. The thing has to be up and running in six months.

The 500,000 overnight stays left and right of the Isar that were rumored just days ago are likely to increase significantly with the addition of the concert. Especially since the specially built “pop-up arena” in the area around the trade fair city of Riem makes further concerts possible. The organizers are carefully examining the digital ticket requests coming in: “The Sky is The Limit,” as they say in the language of the skateboarders flying out of the halfpipe.

The CSU faction in the SPD-led Munich city council is also floating above the clouds. “Sensational news to start the day: Superstar Adele is coming to Munich exclusively for four summer shows!” said a tweet from the party, but the four additional concerts had not yet been decided. “We expressly welcome these plans and congratulate our economic advisor Clemens Baumgärtner on this coup!” Apparently the CSU wants to make the Adele coup a good thing with the electorate. Parliamentary group leader Manuel Pretzl: added “Munich will benefit enormously!”

Businessman Baumgärtner whispers to the “Abendzeitung” (AZ) that he has worked for a year and a half to bring Adele to Munich. According to him, an enormous amount of trust work had to be done in advance at the Munich pop location.

Background information: According to Bamgärnter, there was “negative feedback” after the live shows by the regional organizer Leutgeb with Helene Fischer, Robbie Williams and Andreas Gabalier in the summer of 2022 at the Munich exhibition center.
