The reform must ensure that Flemish museums collaborate more strongly and are better aligned with the international top. The institutions are therefore divided into three clusters, in which knowledge, collections and public relations are more closely aligned.
Mu.ZEE will collaborate with the Felix Art & Eco Museum and the Roger Raveel Museum. Within this collaboration, the museums must strengthen each other, both in terms of content and organisation.
“We share the same ambition: show more art, in more places, better and to more visitors,” says Gennez. “We are investing significantly and are also going to reform. We do this by working together.”
For Mu.ZEE, the annual operating subsidy increases by more than 760,000 euros to 4.2 million euros. The new museum clusters will also receive a transition budget to further expand their collaboration between 2026 and 2028.
