“I don’t understand how I got to this situation”, “I know it hurts me, but I can’t get away”. These phrases often resonate in the offices of Ms. Luciana Quiroga, clinical psychologist and addictions, who has become an indispensable voice to understand one of the most painful and silenced forms of psycho -emotional suffering: affective dependence.

“When we talk about addiction, we usually think about substances. But there are also addictions without a physical object, such as addiction to a person. It is when your emotional stability depends exclusively on the presence or absence of the other. You are no longer you who regulate your internal world: you gave control to the other,” says Quiroga with forcefulness.

Emotional dependence is, he explains, an choice from the lack. On the other hand, many times, a narcissistic figure appears that promises containment, love and security … until it takes it away. “That is emotional abuse,” he warns. “It’s like emotionally moving to the other’s house: you stop owning your own internal space, and in that house, who sends he or her.”

Faced with this scenario, Quiroga proposes a clear exit: return to the axis. Work is not with the other, but with oneself. “Getting out of a toxic bond is not just cutting the relationship, it is to rebuild. It is asking yourself from what place you chose that relationship, recognizing your faults, your shortcomings, and working on them so that you never have to look for it was what can only be completed inside.”

Luciana not only accompanies individual processes in his office; It also takes this message to full auditoriums. Their conferences and workshops are a call to consciousness and emotional autonomy. “Many live in chronic anguish without knowing why. My goal is to give light where there is confusion and teach to live well. With mental health, with freedom, with self -love.”

Owner of his own method to strengthen emotional independence, Luciana Quiroga invites you to reflect with a phrase that becomes motto in each encounter: “If you are not the owner of your emotions, someone else will be for you”. His work not only transforms links: changes lives. And in times where loving badly is normal, your voice is more necessary than ever.
