Diesel has become more expensive in Germany for the third day in a row and has once again reached a record level.
As the ADAC announced, a liter on Good Friday cost an average of 2,391 euros per day – and thus rose to a new all-time high. On Thursday, diesel had already exceeded its previous high from Wednesday with a price of 2,346 euros.
Since Wednesday, fuel prices at gas stations can only be increased once a day at 12 noon. Austria was the model for this measure; this has been the case there for a long time. Since then there have been major price jumps at gas stations.
This was also the case on Saturday: According to the ADAC, the average price for a liter of Super E10 increased by around 8 cents to 2.234 euros around lunchtime. Diesel was once again more severely affected and rose in price by 9.4 cents to an average of 2.486 euros per liter.
“For the ADAC, these data show that the Austrian model certainly does not deserve the name “price brake” and that it is rather counterproductive,” it said.
