Actress who accused Gérard Depardieu of sexual harassment is dead

In recent years, numerous women have made allegations against French actor Gérard Depardieu. The charges range from sexual assault to rape. One of the alleged victims is now dead. Emmanuelle Debever, who appeared as one of the first courageous voices on the Internet, is said to be loud Liberation died on December 6th, but other sources also report December 7th.

Investigations launched in Paris

According to initial investigations, it is currently assumed that the 60-year-old committed suicide, but the Paris public prosecutor’s office is investigating the cause of death in more detail. The sister of the deceased also spoke out with an Instagram post and mentioned a hospital stay in the wake of her death, which is why the exact cause of death has not yet been clarified.

Gérard Depardieu, accused of sexual violence, through the broadcast of the program “Complement d’enquête” on Thursday, December 7th, a day after Debever’s death, is now the focus of attention. The reason for this is that the actress wrote on her Facebook profile in 2019: “The holy monster allowed himself to do many things during this filming… Taking advantage of the intimacy inside a carriage. He pushed his big paw under my skirt so he could supposedly smell me better… I didn’t put up with anything.”

“This is unbearable”

“In view of this new element,” the resurfaced allegations against Depardieu, the Paris prosecutor’s office has decided to open an investigation into the cause of his death.

On her Instagram account, Emmanuelle Debever’s sister shared in a story with: “To social networks and the cheap press: NO, my sister did not die on December 7th, but on December 6th, after being in the hospital for a week at the end of November. We are a long way from the program ‘Complément d’enquête’ broadcast on December 7th and its lying abbreviations. That’s called appropriation and it’s unbearable.”

Other women report sexual assaults

In the case of Depardieu, in April this year 13 women in an online magazine reported sexual assaults – which he vehemently denies. Actress Hélène Darras has even taken legal action, claiming she was sexually harassed by Depardieu during the filming of the 2007 film Disco. The allegations against the actor continue to mount as the debate over accountability and protection of victims intensifies.
