Rob wanted nothing more than to become an actor, but at home they thought differently. He first had to learn ‘a real profession’. That became radio technology, but he never did anything with that, because the stage kept pulling.
Van de Meeberg became known to the general public in the role of Wim Kan. At first he had his reservations: “I don’t start that, I don’t dare. That is such a greatness.”
But after the first fear of cold water he was Wim Kan. He didn’t have to do much for it. After looking back some performances, he knew enough.
“At that time I had seen what he was doing with his hands and with his facial expressions. The rest had to fill in the people themselves, because it is the memory of the people she helps to recognize in me.”
