German actress Christian Oliver51, has died in a plane crash in the Caribbean on Thursday, according to a film industry magazine, among others Variety and German newspaper Bild tell.
In addition to Oliver, his 10- and 12-year-old daughters and the plane’s pilot died in the accident, according to the police of the island state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. There were no other passengers in the crashed plane.
The small single-engine plane crashed into the sea less than two kilometers west of the island of Petit Nevis. The accident happened right after take off.
Eyewitnesses say that the engine made a strange noise during takeoff, St. Vincent Times reports.
– It sounded as if the plane’s engine had stalled, the eyewitness says.
Local fishermen helped the authorities to lift the dead from the sea in Turma.
Christian Oliver, officially called Christian Klepser, starred in numerous films in his career, the most internationally known of which include Speed Racer and Valkyrie.
