Actor and Oscar winner Alan Arkin (89) passed away | show

American actor Alan Arkin passed away on Friday at the age of 89. His family confirmed that to the magazine People. Van Arkin, who received an Oscar in 2006 for best supporting actor in the film Little miss sunshineit had been known for a long time that things were going less well in terms of health.

His three sons Adam (66), Matthew (63) and Anthony (56), also actors, call their father “a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was much loved and will be greatly missed.”

Creators of the latest season of the Netflix comedy The Kominsky method (2021) could not rely on the then 86-year-old actor who had one of the two leading roles in the two previous seasons. Arkin started acting in the 1960s, best known for his roles in The heart is a lonely hunter (1968), Edward Scissorhands (1990) and Glengarry Glen Ross (1992).

Arkin has received numerous nominations and awards for his work. He won a Golden Globe in 1967, received an Oscar in 2006 and was nominated six times for an Emmy in the period from 1967 to 2020.
