Gijs de Lange has died at the age of 65, the management of the actor and director announced on Thursday. De Lange died on Wednesday after a short illness in Amsterdam, the actor suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, a rare lung disease.
The general public knows De Lange from his theater work at the Toneelgroep Amsterdam and his television work in The core†In the children’s program he played in various skits.
Since 2001, De Lange has worked not only as an actor, but also as a director for Het Nationale Toneel and Orkater, among others. He directed several operas for the Holland Festival.
In addition to his work in front of and behind the scenes, De Lange was also a theater teacher in Maastricht and Amsterdam.
De Lange played more than seventy roles on stage and more than fifty for film and television. As a theater director he realized 121 productions.
