Action group goes to court against PFAS waste in Kortemark

The municipality and a large number of local residents have already lodged an appeal. In mid-November, Minister Zuhal Demir did grant a permit for the renewal of the site. Kortemark has already announced that it will challenge the minister’s decision. The action group Livable Groot Kortemark is now also taking legal action.

Great distrust

There is great distrust in the exploitation of the landfill site, according to the action group. “In response to an explicit request to that effect, Silvamo refuses to confirm that no PFAS waste is landfilled.”

The local residents demand a suspension of the permit in urgent procedure with the Council for Permit Disputes. For this they work together with environmental lawyer Isabelle Larmuseau.
