“In the beautiful open area between the Tournai Rijksweg (Bellegem) and the Zandbeekstraat (Sint-Denijs), Eneco visited six farmers/owners. Apparently they had seven to eight locations in mind. Most of them addressed farmers have said no, but the danger has not yet gone,” says Carl Messiaen of the Action Committee.

The Flemish Government wants to introduce new regulations, namely the ‘destination neutrality for renewable energy’. That means as much as the spatial destination of an area is not an argument for refusing windmills. “The Council of State has required Flanders to prepare an EIA report in advance. This is now in public inquiry up to and including 11 April. Anyone who is the open space and the beautiful landscapes of Zwevegem and South West Flanders must certainly lodge an objection,” says Messiaen.
