The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) is monitoring energy supplier ANWB Energy more closely. Due to problems with the automation system, the organization has been unable to send customers’ final and annual statements within the six-week period for months, the ACM announced.

The supervisory authority has received many complaints and questions about this recently. “Because the problems at ANWB Energy have persisted for a long time, the ACM has tightened its supervision. ANWB Energy must keep the ACM informed every week of the steps the company is taking to solve the problems,” the ACM reports.

ANWB has promised that all backlogs will be cleared by June 12 at the latest. The company has informed approximately 10,000 customers about this. If the problems are not resolved by June, the ACM will take ‘additional measures’.

Having the administration in order is important, because people who are entitled to it must receive their money back from the energy supplier in a timely manner.
