Do not touch! According to the police, since mid-December there have been more burglaries in the Berlin city area, in which a liquid was used to decompose door locks.

Depending on the material of the lock, the liquid used appears transparent to yellow, green or brownish.

According to initial findings, this is concentrated nitric acid – one of the strongest mineral acids of all.

The police: “If unknown liquids are found on apartment or house doors, please inform the police immediately and stay away from the damaged areas. Under no circumstances touch the liquid yourself! Even gloves do not provide sufficient protection against the highly corrosive and respiratory tract irritant substance.”

The investigations into the 31 crimes that have been registered so far are ongoing. According to the current status, neither the injured nor the emergency services were injured.
