According to Sylvester Stallone, Ryan Gosling should be the new Rambo

“When I pass the baton, I’m going to hand it to him because he loves the character,” Stallone said.

Sylvester Stallone played “Rambo” in a total of five films. But in the future he no longer sees himself playing the leading role in new editions of the actioner. But who could be his successor? The 77-year-old actor answered the question on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” by saying that Ryan Gosling would be perfect for the job.

This is how Sylvester Stallone was integrated into “Barbie”.

The discussion about Gosling’s potential takeover of “Rambo” was sparked when Fallon asked the actor why he was not seen in Greta Gerwig’s 2023 film “Barbie”, although Stallone’s involvement was initially discussed. It turned out that scheduling conflicts were the deciding factor.

Nevertheless, he wasn’t completely left out and ultimately, in one scene of the satirical comedy, you can see a photo of Sylvester Stallone in a fur coat and later also a poster of the mime. And the coat that Ken actor Ryan Gosling can be seen wearing during the course of the film is also said to be a pointer to Stallone.

Ryan Gosling has been a “Rambo” fan for a long time

Stallone first embodied “Rambo” in the similarly titled work from 1982. With the fourth sequel in the series, which was released in 2019, the actor wanted to finally say goodbye to the role. So is it Gosling’s turn now? In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Stallone at least said that he could imagine him – even though he would be so beautiful: “Obviously we are opposites. He looks good. Not me. Seriously, can you imagine me as Ken? This doesn’t work at all.”

Stallone and Gosling met at a dinner. During the encounter, the 43-year-old is said to have said straight away that as a teenager he dressed like Rambo and was even expelled from school for it. But that didn’t stop him from continuing to emulate his film hero. Sylvester Stallone said: “And I thought – that’s interesting. When I pass the baton, I will hand it to him because he loves the character.”
