At the beginning of May, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim said goodbye to Florian Grillitsch after a total of five years and 150 appearances with eight goals and eleven assists. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has not been able to present a new club so far. Grillitsch will probably not move to the traded AC Fiorentina – which is not due to the interested club, according to sports director Daniele Pradè on Tuesday.
“Grillitsch is a player we’ve been following for a long time and since he’s a free transfer player we were interested in him,” Pradè said (quoted via www.calciomercato.com). “We didn’t like the father’s talk and the payments he was demanding. We choose who we work with, and it’s not true that we argue with everyone. We’re a club liked by agents because we always pay on time. However, we cannot always pay more commissions than others.”
Eriksen, Grillitsch, Dembélé & Co.: The most valuable free players
Grillitsch had already flirted with a move to Italy last summer and was always in conversation there. In the TM rumor mill, he is currently associated with numerous clubs from home and abroad – but apparently nothing is concrete at the moment. Fiorentina manager Pradè has confirmed his club are in talks with Real Madrid’s Luka Jović, 24. The deal is not perfect yet. According to “Sky Sport” in Italy, the “Royal” have not agreed on a loan with AC Fiorentina, as recently reported, but on a free transfer.
