Aatos Koivu receives wild incense: “The situation is quite exciting”

In the current season, Koivu has performed strongly in TPS’s under-18 team, where he has scored 17 power points in 16 games. He has been even better in the under-20s, where he has scored 29 points in 23 games.

– I got on well (with the under-18 team) and I became a better player, says Koivu.

– After that I started training with the under-20s and I got to play with them, and I felt comfortable there too.

“His father’s genes”

Koivu represented Finland in the Five Nations tournament for under-18 national teams in November and scored two goals against the Czech Republic in his debut. NHL talent scouts noted Koivu’s strong grip.

– My biggest observation for me was how he handled the pressure (against men).

– He has his father’s genes. He is intelligent, calm and skilled. The spotlight doesn’t bother him, the European talent scout told Daily Faceoff.

According to the website, several talent scouts believe that Koivu can be booked even in the third round.

– I don’t think anyone paid much attention to him at the start of the season. Now he seems to be one of the best players in Finland. And there is still room for improvement, so the situation is quite exciting.

Aatos Koivu turns 18 this summer.
