The municipality of Aa en Hunze is not extending its collaboration with Vitale Vakantieparken Drenthe. Neighboring municipality Tynaarlo also does not want to renew for the standard three years, but for only one year.
For Tynaarlo it is a money issue. “We want to have a balanced budget for 2026, in connection with the budget cuts that are coming,” a spokesperson said. According to Aa and Hunze, the municipality’s ambition in the field of holiday parks does not match the provincial ambition. And there is no more money for this either.
In 2017, Aa en Hunze started the Future Holiday Parks Aa en Hunze project. At the time, the municipality wanted to discover how holiday parks were doing and develop policy for them. “We have successfully completed processes, a number of parks from Aa and Hunze have been supported with knowledge and subsidies and we have gained knowledge and been able to develop instruments that we will continue to use in the future,” the municipality said.
“At the same time, we have also experienced that the processes around vital holiday parks are complicated. Precisely because of the different factors and interests. It requires a lot of effort and resources,” the municipality continues. The chance of success was small due to the complexity. “When it came to transformation, based on the analysis, we started with the parks where we saw the greatest chance of success. This means that the chance of success at other parks seems smaller.”
In the near future, Aa en Hunze will complete the current projects together with the relevant parks. What the future will look like after that is still unknown. The municipality wants to develop a new policy for this.
