The A58 from Tilburg to Breda has been closed since a quarter past five on Saturday night after two serious accidents close to each other near Tilburg Reeshof. A diversion has been set up.
First, the emergency services received a report of a collision on the A58 between a truck and a car. A driver became trapped. It was freed by the fire brigade.
‘If you’re tired, don’t drive!’
After this accident, lanes were closed off with red crosses to provide the emergency services with a safe working environment. But the driver of a car with three occupants continued driving and crashed into the back of a stationary fire truck. The occupants were injured. Police say the driver of the car may not have seen the red crosses.
“The officers were almost knocked off their feet,” a Tilburg officer said on Sunday morning. “They had to jump out of the way while everything was blocked off. Unbelievable, just pay attention to that! And don’t drive if you’re tired!”
Detour
Due to the road closure, traffic heading towards Breda is advised to follow the signs for Den Bosch/Waalwijk via the A65, the A2, the A59 and the A27.
