1/2 A17 closed until the afternoon: truck with sugar beets overturns
A truck carrying sugar beets overturned on the A17 near Roosendaal early on Sunday morning. That happened after the truck and a car collided. The highway was closed in both directions for hours due to the accident on Sunday.
The accident happened around six o’clock on Sunday morning. Photos show that a shovel had to be used to transfer the beets – which ended up on the other lane – into another truck.
This job and the further handling of the accident took hours. Partly because the guardrail is damaged and because the truck has leaked diesel. As a result, the soil had to be excavated.
Motorists from Roosendaal in the direction of Dordrecht had to take a detour via Breda on the A58 and A16 all day. The lanes in the other direction were also closed. One lane reopened at a quarter past one.
