“A world record”: Spanish police seize 32 tons of cannabis | Abroad

Spanish police have seized 32 tons of cannabis in recent weeks during an operation in several major cities in the country. According to the investigators, this is the largest amount ever worldwide. Twenty people were arrested.

The operation under the name ‘Jardines’ (Gardens; ed.) took place in Toledo and Valencia, among others. The drugs were stored by traffickers pending transport to other Spanish regions. There was also export involved, mainly to Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and also Belgium.

In total, 32 tons of cannabis were seized, equivalent to the production of approximately 1.1 million plants. A total of twenty people between the ages of 20 and 59 were arrested. There are nine men and eleven women. The organization to which they belonged would have been responsible for the production and distribution of the drugs.
