Lapland’s war premieres in October.

Directed by Aku Louhimiehe War in Lapland -a trailer and a poster of the blockbuster film have been released on Monday.
The release was timed for National Veterans Day and the end of the war in Lapland, April 27, 1945, which the filmmakers want to honor.
– It is an honor to publish War in Lapland trailer and poster of the movie on national veterans day, which is also the commemoration day of the end of the war in Lapland. It is especially rewarding to finally be able to present the vast and unique world of the film to the public. We are looking forward to October, when we will be able to bring the film to the whole of Finland, producer Andrei Alén says in the press release.
The film is based on Antti Tuuri’s novel Iron sensorand Tuuri and Louhimies are responsible for its script. War in Lapland is a sister work to the one directed by Louhimiehe, completed in 2017 To the unknown soldier.
The film stars Peter Franzén, Sannah Nedergård and the German Volker Bruch, known among others Babylon Berlin – about the main role in the hit series.
War in Lapland – the premiere of the film is on Friday 23 October 2026.

In the film, the young soldier Heikki fights on the Karelian Isthmus in the late stages of World War II in the fall of 1944 with his friend Paul.
The company is joined by Arvo, released from prison, whose worldview challenges others’ perceptions of war and duty. The armistice raises hopes of a return home, but it soon becomes clear that Finland must turn against its former German allies in Lapland.
At the same time, Saara, who works as an interpreter for the Germans in Rovaniemi, has to choose whether she will stay in Finland or flee to Germany with her beloved Major Duisberg.
Lapland’s war filmed last summer and fall. The miner suffered a serious illness at the end of August, when filming was on a planned production break. The film’s producer, Andrei Alén, temporarily took over the production during Louhimiehe’s sick leave.
The miner told on October 1 Ilta-Sanom that he returned to work filming the war in Lapland in Tornio.
