On Friday, Chopra competed for the first time since last September’s World Cup final.

– I had a back injury before last season’s World Cup final, but I decided to compete because it was the last race of the 2025 season. Competing was a mistake, as the injury worsened. My back is fine now, but after a long recovery period, I was able to open the 2026 competition season only now, Chopra commented at the press conference the day before.

In January, the Indian reported that the ME man’s coaching relationship, which lasted for the seasons 2024–25 Jan Železnýn with is over.

– Jan was a great athlete and he was also a really good coach. We worked on some special things and I am happy that I crossed 90 meters under him, Chopra concluded.

– In order for us to continue our coaching relationship, I would have had to live in the Czech Republic. It wasn’t possible. So we decided after the World Cup in Tokyo that maybe I should work on my own ideas and work with the Indian coach,” added the 2021 Olympian.

Chopra returned Jai Chaudhary for coaching. He also worked as a coach in 2011.

– I started javelin throwing with him, so he knows my story from the last 15-16 years. He knows my training plan and everything, so now we’re working on my technique.
