This is what happened in the men’s javelin competition of the Doha Diamond League.
Javelin’s new prodigy Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage does not freeze. Sri Lanka’s Jermu took his third consecutive victory as the world javelin fencers ended in a draw.
On Friday, Pathirage scored 88.68 meters in the Doha Diamond League.
Pathirage got their first win of the week on Tuesday in the gold series competition in Ostrava.
This season’s world number two raced for second place in Doha Anderson Peters From Grenada with a result of 86.38 meters. The third was a Yankee Curtis Thompson (85.99) and the fourth Indian to return to competitions Neeraj Chopra (85.69).

On Friday, Chopra competed for the first time since last September’s World Cup final.
– I had a back injury before last season’s World Cup final, but I decided to compete because it was the last race of the 2025 season. Competing was a mistake, as the injury worsened. My back is fine now, but after a long recovery period, I was able to open the 2026 competition season only now, Chopra commented at the press conference the day before.

– Jan was a great athlete and he was also a really good coach. We worked on some special things and I am happy that I crossed 90 meters under him, Chopra concluded.

– I started javelin throwing with him, so he knows my story from the last 15-16 years. He knows my training plan and everything, so now we’re working on my technique.

The men’s javelin was in Doha for the third time this season in the Diamond League program.
In Rabat at the end of May, the top three were Peters (86.08), Pathirage (85.97) and Walcott (82.52).
In Rome on June 4, Pathirage threw a world-best 92.62 meters this season, Peters was second (83.91) and Thompson (83.89) third.
Finns have not been able to participate in this season’s Diamond League competitions.
