The international hacker group Anonymous declared a cyber war against Russia last week. The group has managed to crash several major sites, including the Kremlin, the State Duma and the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The attacks have taken the form of denial-of-service attacks, but vulnerabilities have also been exploited. The team also aims to leak information from high-ranking sites. For example, in front of 200 gigs, data from Belarusian arms manufacturer Tetraedr and data excavated from the Ministry of Defense website have been revealed.

Anonymous has also targeted Russian TV channels. The group said on their Twitter account over the weekend that they had accessed television systems and were shown “what is really going on in Ukraine”.

Anonymous’s Twitter account tells in real time what the group has accomplished with the cyberspace front. Russian government websites, for example, have often been down. In addition, contacts between the Russian military have been disrupted.

Anonymous is, as the name implies, an anonymous group that includes hackers around the world. The group is, in effect, a giant group of protesters who can have a major impact on the online side of the war.

Anonymous changed the situation significantly

Security company Check Point assessed recently in his blog postthat historically Russia has had a cyber superiority over Ukraine. Russia’s cyber attacks on Ukraine have wreaked havoc. However, according to Check Point, the situation has begun to change.

– To defend itself, the Ukrainian government has created an international army of hackers IT. The Telegram channel for this army consists of more than 175,000 members, Check Point says.

The goal of the IT army is to disrupt Russian communications and attack important sites and services related to the Russian government, the banking side, and state-owned companies.

Check Point also raises the issue of Anonymous, one of the parties to the war. However, not everyone is on the Ukrainian side, and the malware group Conti, for example, has threatened everyone with a counterattack who is carrying out cyber attacks against Russia.

In addition, fraudsters are taking shame on the situation. Iltalehti previously reported how criminals cheat money by presenting to charities. Read more here.
