The Finnish skier agreed to cooperate with a sports equipment store. The company distributes top skis to ten junior skiers for free use.
Skier Jasmi Joensuu27, has signed a cooperation deal with Intersport, a brick-and-mortar store in Tammisto, Vantaa.
It’s a somewhat surprising sponsorship, because with the contribution of the relay World Cup bronze medalist, ten junior skiers will be given serviced racing skis for free use.
– I have liked to support good guys – and Jasmi is a really good guy. I told Jasmi recently that if we can come up with something to support junior skiing together, let’s do it. Then Jasmilla flashed, says Tammiston’s Intersport shopkeeper Mikko Koivukangas.
– A small contribution will also be made to Jasmin’s sports, that is, we will support her with a nominal amount of euros, the shopkeeper adds.
Based on the applications, Joensuu will select ten female junior skiers aged between 10 and 14 from the capital region in the next few weeks to join the project. In addition to skis, the juniors receive free ski textiles and they get to train twice during the 2023–24 season led by the women of the A national team.
– We maintain the skis until they are ready for competition lubrication. In addition, we offer skiers selected for the project considerable purchase discounts on skis and poles, among other things.
Juniors return the skis after the season or can claim them for themselves.
– When economic times are what they are and inflation has disciplined the families of many skiers, we want to help in this way. The ski club model is not a question here, but the juniors continue as normal in their own clubs.
A productive business

– We do not have any return-input ratio in the Jasmi project. The project brings some visibility and moves our strategy forward. We want to profile ourselves strongly in cross-country skiing.
The merchant estimates that the ski maintenance offered to ten junior skiers slips into the rest of other work.
– We are happy when we have good and committed employees. This project does not require additional resources for the workforce.
