On Sunday, Sotkamo’s Jymy knocked down Imatra’s Pallo-Veikot Superpesis in the opening match at Fuengirola’s Elola Stadium with numbers 1–0.
After the match, the game Nestori Toni Kohonen, 46, exclaimed “never here again”. Kohonen, currently representing Imatra’s Pallo-Veikko, started his last season at the highest league level.
– Next year we will both be in the stands, reminded the three-time Finnish champion of hockey Juha-Pekka Haataja Highlight.
Kohonen replied to Haataja by nodding.
Haataja, who was awarded the best goal scorer in the Finnish Championship regular season and the winner of the points exchange in the 2012–2013 season, got to know Kohonen while playing at KooKoo. At the same time, the sport legend represented the Kouvola Beaters.
Kohonen still remembers the first match of his career in Seinäjoki very well.
– It was Veikkaus’ 1×2 TV match. An ad was painted on the cheeks, Kohonen says.
Kohonen is known as a conscientious trainee, which has certainly helped him stay on top of the sport for 30 years.
– I haven’t had a problem with young people. Practice is always a must, whether young or old, Kohonen recalls.
The story continues after the picture.

EUR 500 veto
Like Kohonen’s team, Haataja also suffered a bitter defeat over the weekend. The hacker lost a bet of 500 euros when his friend Niklas Samppa ran in the middle of a women’s match played on Saturday from third place to second place. The run ended with a handsome dive.
– The organizers of the match gladly promised to pay the fines from the rapture – as I lost the bet – but asked that we not repeat it on Sunday, Haataja says.
Sports Director of the IPV Superpesis team Jani Valkeapää confirms that the club is awaiting a decision from the union. Whitehead is exactly the person from whose idea the opening of the Superpesis has been played Four times in Fuengirola.
If the video doesn’t appear on your device, you can watch it from here.
This year, the match was watched by 1,669 spectators in hot weather. Valkeapää is satisfied with the number of viewers, although in the best years the number of viewers has been alarming 3,000.
– Spanish tourism is just being rebuilt, so we have to rejoice in this amount. However, the atmosphere has been great, says Valkeapää and shouts “Good Imatra” right after.
Ossi Holma and Pirjo Tuunanen had arrived with an IPV fan group on an extended weekend trip to Fuengirola.
Tuunanen gets confused by Holma, who played baseball in the woods series, when Mrs. Kohonen announces that she is her favorite player.
– What? This can not be true! Put that in Rasmus SurakkaHolma instructs.
Holma was right. Surakka was chosen as the best outdoor player of the match.
Help for refugees
Aurinkorannikko Leijonat is a Finnish-speaking lion club in Spain. The Lions was involved in organizing the weekend’s match events, and its tent was in a hurry as people bought charity raffles, the main win of which was the Electric Bicycle.
– A month ago Waltteri Torikka, Sauli Tiilikainen and Marko Hilppo performed here at a charity concert where we raised a donation of 6,000 euros for the victims of the war in Ukraine, President of the Lions Ilkka Fonsén says.
– I don’t know yet how much the sale of lotteries will generate, but we will also get a couple of euros for the tickets sold at the gates. A lot of refugees from Ukraine have arrived here to help this time, Fonsén says.
The organizers organized by the Lions also volunteer without compensation and the association does not charge the match organizer for it.
The winner of the charity draw was the Finnish women’s baseball player of all time, a five-time Finnish champion and a 12-time winner of the East-West match. Päivi Ikola (os. Lähteenmäki).
And no Finnish event – not even in Spain – works without a metric lacquer outlet or grilled sausage.
– You can even choose Jallun (Jaloviina), a restaurateur, as a shot Antti Pekkarinen declared into the microphone a break from the match.
