The American Tiger Woods withdrew this Saturday from the PGA Championship after finishing the third day of competition with 79 strokes, nine over par, which was the worst performance of his career in this ‘major’.
Woods, four times champion of the PGA Championship, had recognized at the end of his round that I wasn’t sure about competing on Sunday and confirmed his withdrawal hours later, the PGA Tour reported in a note.
The American golfer, who was playing his second tournament of the season after the Augusta Masters, was visibly conditioned by leg pain which was fractured last year in a serious road accident.
couldn’t move freely and the low temperatures at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa (Oklahoma, USA) exacerbated his pain.
“I’m in pain, that’s a fact,” Woods said at the end of his round.
“I have not played well, I did not hit the ball well and I did not start as I needed. (…) I couldn’t stop bogeying, I didn’t do anything right. I didn’t have a lot of good hits and I ended up with high numbers by the way,” she added.
