Beloved Vera Stanhope returns to the screen today with the latest episodes of the 12th season.
Finnish viewers have criticized the series, or rather its presenter Yle, in previous production seasons.
In Britain, the hour and a half episodes are typically shown in their entirety. In Finland, however, the series has been shown in such a way that one episode is divided into two parts for consecutive weeks.
Viewers have complained, for example, in Yle’s Facebook comments, how the events of the first part have already been forgotten before watching the next.
However, now the fans’ wishes have been answered. The four episodes of the new production season will always be shown in full-length versions on Saturdays during July.
Contradictory reactions
The current season saw the light of day in Britain already at the beginning of the year. Rotten Tomatoes website, the latest 12th season has received mixed feedback from viewers.
– I have watched all 11 seasons of this before and now I can’t bear to watch this, one user expresses his disappointment.
– I have watched the series since the first season and I love everything about it. I want more, but the other one is glowing.
It remains to be seen whether the new season will succeed in impressing the dedicated Finnish audience.
Expectations are high: for example in 2019 Vera Stanhope investigates was clearly the most watched foreign drama in Finland with an average of 558,00 viewers per new episode.

In the first episode of the season, Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) gets to investigate the case of a body found on a remote beach. There is also a stir among the close-knit team of investigators when the sarcastic coroner Malcolm is replaced by the young medical examiner Paula.
