A quarter of freshwater animals are threatened with extinction: scientists sound the alarm

Scientists have studied and assessed in detail the extinction risk of 23,000 animals living in freshwater. This shows that 24 percent of these species are threatened with extinction. This can be read today in the leading scientific magazine ‘Nature’. The researchers also identified the biggest threats. This is to hopefully reduce the loss of freshwater biodiversity.
