A lot of money to Brabant for roads and rail

Brabant will receive a large sum of money to invest in roads and railways. By investing in this, considerably more homes can be built. Across the Netherlands, 7.5 billion euros is being invested. Which part of it will go to Brabant will be announced later this Monday.

A large part of the money from Brabant goes to the Eindhoven region. Under the Brainport banner, it is one of the most important economic engines in the Netherlands. Minister Hugo de Jonge of Housing and Deputy Erik Ronnes explained Monday morning that the money will be spent on the construction and expansion of roads and railways.

By investing in infrastructure, large-scale housing construction becomes easier. 130,600 new houses are to be built in Brabant by 2030.

An average of 13,000 has been achieved in the past three years, but due to, among other things, the nitrogen ruling of the Council of State at the beginning of November, construction projects will be delayed from next year. About 10,000 houses are expected to be built next year.

Minister De Jonge emphasized that substantial investments are being made in Brabant. “Thanks to these investments, more housing is possible.”

Deputy Ronnes thought that the A67, A2 and A58 deserve extra money. But that will be announced later Monday. First, the House of Representatives is informed about the distribution of the 7.5 billion euros.
