“It feels a bit like it is your children you have to let go, but if I can make someone happy with it, I have peace with it,” Aart told when NH interviewed him last week about his musical treasure. He gathered his collection, mainly classically, together in decades. “You can easily buy a house from the money I spent on it.”

No CDs on Marktplaats

Aart used to love music and had a decent music collection, but when he started making programs for Radio Hoorn in 2002 it went fast. His collection exploded: from Jan Smit to ABBA, but especially classically fills his cupboards – and his heart. “I can enjoy this so much.”

But it is not for him to do the money. If there is someone who wants to take over the collection in his whole and holds it together, it can go for nothing. That the collection stays together is important for Aart: “I don’t want to give it to someone who sees it and puts the CDs on Marktplaats. It must be someone who, just like me, can enjoy all the different versions and searches for the essence of the music.”
