Sanna Marin and Tuulia Pitkänen have come a long way together. Now the paths diverge, at least partially.

As reported earlier on Thursday, Tuulia Pitkänen is no longer the CEO of the MA/PI company mainly owned by Sanna Marin.

Pitkänen commented on the matter on Thursday on his Instagram account, and a little later Marin also made a public statement on the matter.

Marin and Pitkänen both continue Tony Blair – in the institute’s tasks. Parivaljakko has had time to work together in different work patterns for quite some time.

Parliament

Sanna Marin was elected to parliament for the first time in 2015 and again in 2019. Both times Marin was the voice rake of the Pirkanmaa electoral district. In 2019, Marin commented on the election results to Iltalehti as follows:

– I have certainly acted worthy of trust and it is certainly reflected in the number of votes that I have acted in parliament for the values ​​that I represent. I have done my best, but I have a very humble attitude.

For the first time, he started working as an assistant in 2013. From November of the same year, he published a Christmas photo of the parliament on his Instagram account.

In December 2019, Sanna Marin, who served as Minister of Transport and Communications, became Finland’s youngest Prime Minister at the age of 34.

In December 2019, the State Council announced who Prime Minister Marin had invited as his special assistants, and Tuulia Pitkänen’s name was also on the list. In the Instagram photo carousel below, Marin and Pitkänen pose in Davos 2023.

Marin served as prime minister until June 2023. In September 2023, he left his position as an MP after the plenary session of the parliament had accepted his resignation request.

Joint stock company

In July 2023, Marin and Pitkänen’s joint stock company MA/PI, which focuses on publishing and speaking activities, was added to the trade register. Marin owns 90 percent of the company, and Pitkänen 10 percent. Until now, Pitkänen has been the company’s CEO and deputy member of the board, while Marin is the only actual member of the board. In February 2024, Marin’s former special assistant Iida Vallin started in the company. According to information from Iltalehti, the company was founded for speaking gigs.

In May 2023, outgoing Prime Minister Marin accepted an honorary doctorate from New York University and addressed the graduating class at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. This was widely considered in the media. Pitkänen’s Instagram account has a happy collection of pictures from that trip.

The Tony Blair Institute

Marin left domestic politics in 2023 and moved to the Tony Blair Institute, TBI for short, as a strategic advisor. Pitkänen followed in the position of senior advisor. This turn eventually led to Pitkänen’s resignation from the position of CEO of MA/PI, as Pitkänen’s responsibilities at TBI have grown rapidly.

The institute has not commented to the media about the information of individual employees or their ongoing work patterns.

On Sanna Marin’s last day in parliament, Tuulia Pitkänen published a long text on her Instagram account.

– Some kind of shift ended today – but only so that a new one could begin, he wrote in September 2023, he ended his writing.

Reasons behind the difference

On Thursday, Pitkänen commented on his resignation from the duties of CEO in the stories section of his Instagram account, after which Marinkin commented on the matter in the stories section of his Instagram account. Marin published a photo together with Pitkänen in her stories.

– New winds! Tuulia, whom I greatly appreciate, is moving away from the position of CEO of MA/PI as her responsibilities increase at the Tony Blair Institute. It has been a pleasure to work together with Tuulia for many years, and the cooperation continues at TBI.

In his publication, Pitkänen described that he only worked in the company on a sideline basis alongside his international day jobs. Pitkänen revealed that wider work opportunities related to Ukraine have opened up for him, which is why he is cutting back on his MA/PI responsibilities.

Marin praised Pitkänen’s professional skills in his stories section.

– Tuulia’s skills have been widely noticed and in the future she has every opportunity to advance to any position. Good luck on your journey dear friend, Marin wrote in his story.

In June, Marin published a picture on her Instagram account from Berlin, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and the minister responsible for economic and trade affairs, on the eve of a conference focusing on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
