The Vallecano Ray continues to grow and no longer leaves anyone indifferent. Andoni Iraola’s team added, after the victory at the Sánchez Pizjuán over Sevilla (0-1), four games without losing. The Vallecanos, with 18 points, are closer to Europe than relegation: They are three units behind Athletic, sixth classified, and eight above Sevilla, which occupies the third place that condemns them to lose the category.
Rayo will seek to make Vallecas respect against Real Madrid. Last season, when the team returned to the top flight, Ancellotti’s men struggled to get the three points with a tight 0-1. As for the game at the Bernabéu, the European champions also had to work harder to win 2-1. Next Monday, Iraola hopes to make things difficult for Madrid again and score points to climb more positions in the table. “We are not afraid of anyone. We are a team that adapts.
