In February, we will know which cafes are the best in the world. Secret coffee agents have surveyed potential candidates and stopped in Finland on their way.

It’s about The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops competition, which is being held for the first time. One of the cafes competing for the list of the 100 best cafes is Helsinki’s Enchanté Café.

– It was a complete surprise for us to get on the candidate list, says the cafe’s founder and CEO Mikael Malin.

Malin says they are the only Finnish cafe in the competition. There are 57 cafes listed in Europe. Malin estimates that around 200 cafes around the world have been shortlisted for the second round.

– In our case, the judges especially liked our coffee and our customer service. I believe we made it to the next round because our customer service is different. We are more of a social place than just a cafe. We try to connect with people and connect people to each other.

Enchantè recently turned three years old. It is also listed on the list of the best coffee shops in Finland.

Malin states with humor that now is the opportunity to vote for the world’s best coffee shop in the world’s happiest country.

The list of 100 cafes will be announced at a gala held in Madrid on February 17.

The competition’s professional jury consists of well-known baristas, coffee roasters and experts who evaluate the candidates based on predefined criteria such as coffee quality, barista expertise and sustainable development practices.

Cafes that have received the highest total points by public and expert voting are awarded as the best cafes in the world. The final results are presented in order of preference from 1 to 100.
