A ferocious hailstorm turned Ruisrock into a muddy mess in an instant – that’s what it looked like

Hailstorm surprised the visitors of Ruisrock. The terrain of the festival area became difficult to navigate as a result of rain and hail.

It never rains in Ruisrock, goes an old proverb from Turku. You can at least forget that now.

Ellinoora sang beautifully at Ruisrock’s Niittylava in Turku The weight of an elephant -song, when the sky was torn. The water came pouring down until, in addition to the rain, hail also fell from the sky.

The writer of this story got a big hailstone on his little fingernail, which hurt.

The heavy downpour lasted about a quarter of an hour and after that a rainbow could be seen in the sky.

Many festival goers were prepared with raincoats, but a little less people had rubber boots. The problem was how to get around large ponds of water, and it had to be seriously thought about.

After the heaviest rain subsided, the rain started again. According to the figures of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, 11.4 mm of rain fell in Ruissalo at 6 am.

According to Foreca’s confirmation, the amount of rain around Ruissalo and Turku has been the heaviest of around 15.9 mm since 1 o’clock. A few more clouds can be expected from the sea until the rain subsides and it clears up at night.
