A farce was seen at the Norwegian cross-country skiing championships on Saturday. The medals for the women’s 20 km combined race could not be awarded because the race was canceled due to a mistake by the organizers.

Due to a mistake, some skiers went in the wrong direction shortly after changing skis. According to Dagbladet, many first thought that Heidi Weng had gone in the wrong direction, but in the end it turned out that Weng was one of the few who had gone in the right direction.

Things like changing skis started in the wrong direction Astrid Slindwho led the race.

NRK’s according to the competition manager Torbjörn Broks Pettersen burst into tears after the incident.

– The jury has made a decision that the competition must be cancelled. I, as the organizer, have made a huge mistake by sending competitors in the wrong direction. This cannot be called the Norwegian Championship. This is not worth it, the broken man said.

According to the race director, the course markers were not moved early enough, which led to confusion.

In the end, Weng crossed the finish line first and Slind second. Slind had a chance for the first Norwegian championship of his career, but the gold was still a dream.

– Some have not done their work. It’s a shame that the competition was canceled because of this, Slind said according to NRK.

Weng, on the other hand, said that he does not mind the cancellation of the competition.
