Review

Fabio De Luigi directs his fourth film as director (ten years have passed since Tiramisuhis first work). A beautiful day it is a romantic comedy, with a light tone that mixes family and sentimental dynamics. What works is the alchemy between De Luigi and Virginia Raffaele, who meet again on the set afterwards Three too many, where they were always struggling with managing children.

Together they give rhythm and spontaneity to Lara and Tommaso. A group of young performers moves around them, adding freshness to the story. In the first part of the film, fun dynamics are created between the daughters and their father. When Lara’s three children are added, the family expands and the detonator of the comedy is amplified.

De Luigi then tightens the camera lens on a characterAndrea, Lara’s son, who has a particular sensitivity and who his mother keeps under a glass bell. From that moment the pace of the film loses its pieces a bitthe couple’s dynamic leaves room for reflection on a delicate topic, which however disrupts the terrain of the comedy.

«Through a light tone, we tell the legitimate desire of two peoplewith complicated family units behind them, to give themselves a new chance to be happy – declared De Luigi – the family therefore becomes a funny ballast to be awkwardly hidden from the eyes of others.”

The cast: Fabio De Luigi and Virginia Raffaele

Fabio De Luigi is fond of films with families at the center of the narrative. A beautiful day it almost seems to be an integral part of the Rovelli family, protagonist of 10 days with his parents, 10 days without mom And 10 days with Santa Claus directed by Alessandro Genovesi. As a director he directed Three too manywith Virginia Raffaele.

The comedic couple, after their debut, work together again. De Luigi plays Tommaso. Raffaele is Lara, the woman who finally brings a bit of sparkle in the excessively controlled life of man. The life of the couple is enlivened by Tommaso’s four daughters and Lara’s three sons played by Maria Gifuni (Vittoria), Alma Teresa Giardina (Sara), Anita Marzi (Matilde), Arianna Gregori (Elena), Leon Castagno (Andrea), Andrea Silvestrini (Ivan) and Nicola Mayer (Marco).
