A 24-year-old man also died after the serious collision with a wrong-way driver on the A59 near Waalwijk last week. The police confirmed this to Omroep Brabant. After the accident on Saturday night, an 81-year-old woman from Oosterhout also died. She was driving on the wrong side of the road shortly before.
Two cars were involved in the accident. The accident happened shortly after midnight, around a quarter past twelve, on the A59 from Den Bosch towards the Hooipolder junction.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident, they saw a lot of devastation. The engine block of one of the cars was found on the road.
Emergency workers tried to resuscitate the 81-year-old woman, but this was no longer possible. Two occupants of the other car involved were injured: the 24-year-old driver and a 23-year-old woman.
The man had to be freed from the car by the fire brigade. He was taken to a hospital together with the 23-year-old woman. The man died on Wednesday from his injuries.
