A partial solar eclipse occurs once every few years. Full solar eclipses are much rarer. The last in Western Europe was in 1999, the next one in 2135.

The next partial solar eclipse in the Netherlands is on the agenda before 12 August 2026. Seen from the Netherlands, the sun will then be covered for around 90 percent. A total eclipse can be seen from parts of Spain and Iceland.
