Nervous start and no gates for a long time

Both teams showed little courage to risk in the first phase of the game. The first few minutes were characterized by many ball losses on both sides. It took up to the 27th minute before the hosts appeared for the first time in front of the goal of the Darmstadt. Clemens Riedel blocked the advance, but almost steered the ball into his own box.

The lilies from Hesse only had their best scenes shortly before the break – but these were the same top -class: Sergio López pulled off from about twelve meters after a nice combination game. Niclas Thiede in the box of the hosts had his defense clap forward. where center forward isac lidberg lurked. But the Darmstadt hit only hit the post from a short distance, also because Thiede still had his fingertips on the ball.

Ulm does it twice

The Darmstadt residents are likely to be very annoyed about these missed opportunities afterwards – because Ulm took the lead shortly after the change of sides. Bastian Allgeier flanked from the right, Röser jumped artistically to the ball at the short post and steered the ball into the Darmstadt goal. And a little later the doorbell rang again in the goal of the Hesse: Oliver Batista-Meier produced a “beam” from a half-left position, Marcel shoes in the goal of the guests was again powerless against the shot over 100 km/h.

Suddenly Darmstadt is back

When the majority of the spectators already thought their SSV on the winning road, Darmstadt 98 came back: after a cross from Guille Bueno, Riedel climbed up to the header and shortened. The guests now had the momentum on their side and increased the pressure.

The fans of the lilies supported their “lilies” after body strength, Ulm’s fans took a moment to drown out the loud cheering calls. The Danube Stadium was bubbling. Thiede was challenged several times in the six -minute added time – but the keeper showed no weaknesses again and again with high balls. The Ulm then left a counterattack to the possible 3: 1 seconds before the end. Then referee Robert Kampka whistled. Ulm cheered.
