This Friday (March 28, 2025), Gil Ofarim published his song “Correction of Time”. It is his attempt to come after the “Davidstern affair”, of which he says today that she had marked the beginning of the “worst time of my life”.
The video uploaded on YouTube has around 540 views 40 minutes after its premiere. Nothing gigantic, but also no flop. In the clip, Gil Ofarim wanders along his windy beach and sings. He lets sand mash in his hands. Ofarim has deactivated the comment function for the clip. Maybe also because he regularly collects shitstorms on his social media. Many people do not forgive him that he had accused another person of anti -Semitism. And a hearty defeat in court.
“Correction of the time” by Gil Ofarim
Lyrics: correction of the time
Time runs
Of them like waves and wind
And every moment evaporates
Like grains of sand – blind.
We chase the hands
Then lose us.
But who corrects,
What I can’t change?
Circle seconds,
Minutes pass –
What’s left behind
If we just go on?
Perform hours
The present quiet
Sometimes just too much.
A correction of the time –
What remains?
Can you into the future
Or just go back?
Change past,
Forgive the errors –
But time remains a mystery
In the holy appearance.
In the holy glow,
In the holy appearance.
What if the time
Would be my reflection?
She shows me the burden
That I wear – so difficult.
Circle seconds,
Minutes pass –
What’s left behind
If we just go on?
Perform hours
The present – stand.
Sometimes she stops
Much.
A correction of the time –
What remains?
Can you into the future
Or just sit down?
Change past,
Forgive the errors –
But time remains a mystery
In the holy appearance.
In the holy glow,
In the holy glow,
In the holy glow,
Holy glow.
You the halo.
Time remains a river –
Where do I go there?
A correction of the time
New beginning.
What is “correction of time”?
One can literally understand “correction of time”. Gil Ofarim would like to turn the time back. The poetic attempt to undo or change things – and the impossibility of really doing that. Relevance, self -reflection, error, forgiveness.
“We hunt the hands” probably thinks that people rush through life, always after the clockers, i.e. the time. “Hours perform the present”. The present is almost staged like a play – a feeling of unreality or overwhelming suggests.
Towards the end, it is about the “load” and about “forgiving mistakes”. In the rather abstract text, the most concrete indication that Gil Ofarim gives something wrong. “The load that I wear – so difficult”. That also has something of self -pity.
In terms of spiritually, he also sings about the “holy appearance”: thinking about time as a something bigger, almost divine – a force that stands above us.
