Billboard Heart is an incredibly strong album from front to back, although there would be almost no conclusion. The first recordings and trial shows apparently lacked that certain something, whereupon Deep-Sea-Divers band boss, singer and guitarist Jessica Dobson put the songs frustrated for the time being. After a short break, she contacted Producer Andy Park, who convinced her to touch the pieces again – and with which Furor Dobson was going: Deep Sea Diver sounds like never, even if the previous album Impossible Weight from 2020 was already very intensive, even: Deep.
Whether it is about friendships that are destroyed by the suffering (“Always Waving Goodbye”) or from the outset were delicate (“Tiny threads”), whether it is about love for difficult people as in the broad -walled title song or about standstill and wasteland (“loose change”): Dobson pulls out the heart and shredes her guitar until we feel.
In pieces such as “Emergency” or “Shovel”, the energy from 200 years of indie rock flows together, the demons are conjured up, who also know Nick Cave and PJ Harvey well. There are soft, delicate moments on Billboard Heart, the final track “Happiness is not a given”, for example, but the strongest impressions leave Deep Sea Diver in anger.
