Skir racing driver Linus Straßer ended the season without a World Cup podium and had to survive a frightening second at the end. After he almost collided with a so-called slide in the first round, the 32-year-old finished sixth in the last race of winter.

Norwegian Timon Haugan secured the victory in Sun Valley in the USA with a 0.03 second lead ahead of Olympic champion Clement Noel from France. Haugan’s teammate Henrik Kristoffersen, who finished fourth, celebrated overall success in the slalom rating for the fourth time in his career.

The route crosses the route

A slope worker had suddenly crossed the route in the first run – right in front of Straßer. The 32-year-old got away with the horror, but visibly from the rhythm. He finally moved into the final as a seventh and then made a seat well in this.

The slides between the trips of the individual athletes prepare and maintain the slopes and ensure that all conditions have as similar as possible.

World Cup bronze as a positive outlier

At the World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Austria in February, Straßer slalom bronze and thus his first single medal had won with an alpine major event. In the World Cup, the Munich team came to his strong performance from the pre -season, in which he won the classics in Kitzbühel and Schladming, but did not approach this winter.

For the German Ski Association (DSV) it was the first season without a single World Cup podium for men for 21 years.
