The song is named over a name Marie. “Marie, Mara, Maruschkaka,” Gert sings in full bristles. “As a child, I didn’t even think about it anymore, and Marie really wanted it. I think that’s natural,” Viktor reminds me. “As jij dat vroeger zong, vond ik dat really het very first”, Marie reageert. “So erg. Je wil not toch niet dat je naam associated wordt met kaka.”
Wanneer ze het origineel van de song beluisteren, blijkt bovendien dat ze de tekst al jarenlang fout zingen. “Dat gaat helemaal niet over kaka,” laughs Ellen. “Dat youth trauma he had intrinsically nooit zijn.”
