German ski star almost crashed into slopes

That could have been evil: a slope worker crossed the route at the World Cup final in Sun Valley. DSV star Linus Straßer can just dodge-but must probably bury his dream of the podium.
Linus Straßer had plans a lot for the last slalom race of the season-but an incident on the track brought the DSV athlete for a better starting point. At the World Cup final in Sun Valley, the Munich man missed a promising placement in the first run through an incident with a slope worker and only goes into the decisive finale as a seventh.
A helper Straßer’s line crossed after about 30 seconds. The 32-year-old was just able to avoid a collision, but shortly afterwards lost speed due to a driving error. Straßer’s gap to the leading Norwegian Timon Haugan is already 1.47 seconds. The distance to the podium is 1.33 seconds. This threatens the German Ski Association for men a World Cup season without a podium-that would be the first time since 2003/04. At the World Cup, however, Straßer had bronze.
The French Olympic champion Clément Noël is just 0.10 seconds behind Haugan. Third is Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway (+0.14). The fight for the small crystal ball remains exciting: Kristoffersen leads the slalom rating with 612 points ahead of the Swiss world champion Loic Meillard (565) and Noël (526). The final on the “Greyhawk” slope begins at 8:00 p.m. (CET).
